Upson County Jail Roster
The official online roster for Upson County inmate records is the Upson County Jail Population Website. The Upson County Sheriff's official site links to that portal by name, so the InteropWeb address should be treated as the sheriff-linked public roster even though it is hosted by a vendor. The footer on the roster identifies Synergistic Software, Inc. No login or payment was observed in the research sweep, and the roster can be browsed without entering a name.
The roster is built for current local jail custody and recent booking review. It has tabs for Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. The Current Inmates tab is the starting point when the question is whether someone is held at Upson County Jail now. The 24 Hours Arrests tab can show very recent bookings and releases, so the status line matters. The arrest-date tab adds a date range picker, which is useful when the arrest date is known but the person may no longer be listed as current.
The live current-inmates roster screenshot shows the tab layout, optional name filter, search button, and pagination.
Use the roster as a public custody index, not as the final court file. A warrant number or charge line on the jail page may later become, or relate to, a case record handled by the court. For that next step, the local pathway is described in court records after a jail arrest.
Upson County Roster Search
The roster search is simple, but it helps to choose the right tab before entering a name. A short name, a partial name, or a blank filter can be better than a full name when spelling is uncertain. Pagination is part of the search process because the current roster can extend across many pages, and the arrest-date result can be longer than the current-custody list.
- Open the sheriff-linked Upson County Jail Population Website.
- Select Current Inmates to check whether the person is in Upson County Jail now.
- Enter part or all of the name in Filter By Inmate Name (Optional), or leave it blank and browse.
- Select Search Inmates, then use Prev, page numbers, and Next if the result is not on the first page.
- Use 24 Hours Arrests for very new bookings and recent releases. Read the status because released people may appear there.
- Use Inmates by Arrest Date when the arrest date or date range is known.
- If no record appears, call the jail and then check GDC, BOP, ICE ODLS, or VINELink based on the type of custody.
The Inmates by Arrest Date view adds the date-range controls that the basic current-inmates view does not need.
That date range tool is best for a known arrest window. It is not a statewide search, and it does not replace court dockets, prison records, federal custody tools, or immigration detention searches.
Upson County Search Fields
The Upson County Interop roster does not require a booking number, facility dropdown, or full legal name to start. The inspected public controls were the tab links, an optional name filter, the Search Inmates button, pagination, and, on the arrest-date tab, a date range picker. The table below combines the fields documented for Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date.

Upson County Record Details
An Upson County inmate profile is a booking and charge summary. It may show a public image area, name, custody status, sex, height, weight, address, arrest date, arresting agency, days in jail, and total bond. Charge rows then add warrant identifiers, counts, statute references, descriptions, misdemeanor/felony/other coding, and court labels such as Superior Court or City Court when shown.
Some fields readers often expect were not observed in the public text extraction. The roster did not show date of birth, age, booking number, housing unit, cell or pod, court date, release date, judge, attorney, case disposition, or medical and mental-health information. For booking photos, the roster includes an image slot for each entry, but final availability should be checked in the live result. More detail about the image field and Georgia booking-photo limits appears in Upson County jail roster mugshots.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Full public name in roster order, usually last name first. |
| Status | Custody status such as CURRENTLY BOOKED or RELEASED. |
| Sex / height / weight | Basic physical identifiers. Height uses a compact three-digit format. |
| Address | Last known address entered into the booking record. |
| Arrest Date / Arresting Agency | Arrest date and sometimes agency, including Upson County SO or Thomaston PD. |
| Days In Jail | Running count of days since arrest or booking. |
| Total Bond | Aggregate bond status or amount, including not set or denied when shown. |
| Warrant# | Warrant or case/warrant identifier tied to a charge line. |
| Counts | Count number for the listed charge line. |
| Statute | Georgia Code or local ordinance reference used by the record. |
| Description | Plain-language charge, warrant, probation, or hold description. |
| M/F | Charge level or status code. M, F, and O were observed. |
| Court | Court associated with the charge, when the roster provides it. |
Upson County Jail Contact
For current custody questions, the local fallback is the Upson County Jail and Sheriff's Office. The sheriff-linked roster is useful, but it may not answer a same-day booking issue, a release question, a hold from another county, a bond status that changed after posting, or a records request for a historical booking. The jail is also the place to confirm any visitor, mail, phone, or commissary rule before acting on it.

Capacity: 215 inmates at full capacity, according to the sheriff's About Us page.

Sheriff Dan Kilgore is listed in the county staff directory as the sheriff.
The sheriff's About Us page identifies the Aviation Drive jail facility and links the jail population website. The county Sheriff staff directory lists the jail administrator and other command contacts.
Those local pages are also useful when confirming that Upson County has one primary sheriff-operated jail for public roster purposes.
Upson County Access Chain
A complete inmate-record search should follow the custody chain rather than relying on one tool. Start with the county roster for local pretrial and local jail custody. Then use the jail phone or an in-person contact when the entry is missing, too new, unclear, or tied to a hold. For older booking logs, arrest reports, booking records, or booking-photo requests, make a written Georgia Open Records Act request to the Upson County Sheriff's records custodian. The Georgia Attorney General's open-government guidance says requests should be made to the agency custodian, and written requests help document the scope and response timing.
State, federal, immigration, and notification tools serve different purposes. The Georgia Department of Corrections offender search is for people in GDC custody after sentencing or transfer, not for most current county-jail detainees. The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present, but a federal pretrial detainee may not appear there until commitment or designation. The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is the immigration-custody tool and requires either A-number and country of birth or biographical details. It cannot search records for people under 18. Georgia VINELink is best understood as a custody notification and status-alert service when coverage applies.
Use the right system: Upson County's roster covers local jail custody at the county facility. GDC covers sentenced Georgia prison custody. BOP covers federal prison custody. ICE ODLS covers immigration detention. VINELink can help with notifications, but it is not a substitute for the official roster or the jail.
The research sweep did not locate an official Upson sheriff or Thomaston police public-safety mobile app with a jail roster feature. Use the web roster and agency contacts unless a later official source publishes an app.
Upson County Booking Path
A local booking can begin with an arrest by the Upson County Sheriff's Office, Thomaston Police Department, or another law-enforcement agency. The person is taken to Upson County Jail at 235 Aviation Drive, where the jail creates the custody entry. The public roster can then show name, status, sex, height, weight, address, arrest date, arresting agency, days in jail, total bond, and charge lines. A charge row may include the warrant number, count, statute, description, M/F code, and court.
Bond and holds require careful reading. The Total Bond field may show a dollar amount, NOT SET, or DENIED. A hold for another county or agency can affect release even when one line appears to have a bond amount. A warrant number on the roster is not the same thing as a final court case disposition. Formal charges, calendars, dispositions, and filings belong with the court record after the jail booking moves into the court system.
Upson Magistrate Court publishes concrete first-appearance timing. First appearances are conducted Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2:00 P.M., with an on-call Sunday judge as required. The same local scheduling page says warrant and first-appearance hearings are to be scheduled within 48 hours after arrest, or within 72 hours if the arrest occurs with an active warrant. The Magistrate Court guidelines also describe magistrate judges issuing many warrants for the City of Thomaston and Upson County after a law-enforcement affidavit establishes probable cause.
Upson County Visitation Records
No official Upson County jail visitation schedule was located on the county sheriff pages reviewed in the research file. The same gap applies to local jail mail format, commissary vendor, phone provider, video visitation vendor, deposit limits, attorney-visit procedure, and dress-code details. Because those rules affect whether a visit, letter, call account, or deposit will be accepted, confirm the current rule with the jail before going to the facility or sending anything.
| Facility or custody type | Schedule located? | Official details found | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upson County Jail | No | No official schedule located on county sheriff pages. | Call 706-647-7411 before arrival. Do not rely on unofficial times. |
| GDC state prison after transfer | Statewide only | GDC facility pages list rules by assigned prison. No state prison was located in Upson County. | Use the assigned GDC facility page after the GDC locator shows placement. |
| BOP or federal custody | No local facility | No BOP facility was located in Upson County. | Use the BOP locator and the specific federal facility page after a result. |
| ICE custody | No local facility | No ICE detention facility was located in Upson County. | Use ICE ODLS and then the detention facility page shown by ICE. |
Mail should not be sent using an assumed inmate-mail format. The official jail address is Upson County Jail, 235 Aviation Drive, Thomaston, GA 30286, but many jails require a name, ID number, housing unit, or third-party mail processor. The Upson roster did not show a booking number or housing unit in the public text extraction, so callers may need to confirm the correct identifiers with jail staff.
GDC BOP ICE VINELink
When an Upson County case results in a state-prison sentence, the search moves away from the county roster. Georgia.gov states that adult offenders may be searched through GDC by name, ID or case number, age, and other identifying information, while county-jail inmates should be checked through the county website. GDC also warns users to verify offender information through written correspondence with Inmate Records and Information at P.O. Box 1529, Forsyth, GA 31029. That verification note matters because release dates, facility assignments, and profile data can change after a public lookup.
The GDC offender search page is the state-prison route for sentenced custody.
GDC is not the same as Upson County Jail. A person may still be in the local jail waiting on transfer, then move through GDC diagnostic assessment before assignment to a permanent facility. GDC describes that statewide process as a sequence that can include local-jail waiting time, diagnostic assessment, assigned facility placement, reentry, and release phases.
Federal and immigration searches are separate. BOP has Find By Number and Find By Name tabs for federal inmates. ICE ODLS uses either an A-number search or a biographical search, and the A-number must be nine digits with leading zeroes added when needed. If ICE ODLS does not locate a detained person, ICE says the appropriate ERO field office remains a fallback. For alerts rather than a full roster, Georgia VINELink can be used when the person and agency are covered.
The Georgia VINELink screenshot shows the statewide notification portal used for custody-status alerts.
VINELink should be paired with the official custody source. It can help track changes, but it does not turn a state, federal, or immigration record into an Upson County jail record.
